Up for sale is a classic, highly collectible HO Scale Brass 2-6-6-6 Class H-8 Allegheny articulated steam locomotive and tender manufactured in Japan by Akane. Renowned for their heavy die-cast-feel brass construction and robust pulling power, this vintage Akane model beautifully captures the sheer mass of the ultimate Chesapeake & Ohio mainline beast.

Item Condition & Bench Performance Details:

  • Operational Status: Runs Well. Fully bench-tested by our shop technicians. The massive articulated gear assemblies and linkage operate smoothly in both forward and reverse with stable, predictable current pickup.

  • Cosmetic Condition: Excellent Condition. It features a clean, classic satin black paint scheme with crisp gold "Chesapeake & Ohio" lettering on the tender and road number #1602 cleanly applied to the cab sides (see IMG_8646.jpg and IMG_8647.jpg).

  • Underside Wear: The driver treads, contact wipers, and undercarriage are exceptionally clean, displaying minimal runtime and well-preserved plating (see IMG_8652.jpg). No signs of zinc pest, corrosion, or heavy layout fatigue.

  • Packaging: Comes complete in its iconic original white-and-teal Akane "The Champion of HO Locomotives" presentation box with clean, updated protective foam inserts to safeguard the delicate brass details during transit (see IMG_8646.jpg and IMG_8647.jpg).
